Michael has been in the construction industry for over 25 years with the last 6 years focusing on the multi-family sector. Since 2011, Michael has managed construction for over 600 units in high barrier-to-entry markets while functioning in the roles of Project Manager, Superintendent, and Project Engineer on projects totaling over $200 million in capital investments.
His primary role at Dogwood Residential is Vice President of Construction and Operations for new development projects as well as overseeing all property maintenance operations for the existing portfolio.
Michael graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Construction Engineering.
As Vice President of Strategy and Development at Dogwood Residential, Thomas focuses on underwriting, budgeting, market research, financial modeling, and identifying potential acquisition opportunities. He also assists in driving innovation to the operations of the organization.
Thomas is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, member of ULI, and a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina. When not at work, Thomas enjoys the outdoors by hiking or playing sports.
Kimberly Moore is proud to be the Vice President of Property Management for Dogwood Residential.
She currently holds her CAPS (Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor) and CAM (Certified Apartment Manager certificate) both through the National Apartment Association. In 2016, she was awarded the Stephanie M. Weeks Industry Achievement Award by the New River Valley Apartment Council (NRVAC). Kimberly is currently on the Virginia Apartment Management Association Advisory Committee for the New River Valley and served as the committee chair from 2015-2016. Prior to that, she served the NRVAC as President (2014) and Vice President (2012-2013), and was awarded Property Manager of the Year (2014).
When she’s not in the office helping out residents or volunteering, she’s playing with her adorable pup, Stella.

J Randolph Segar Jr.
FOUNDER
J Randolph Segar, Jr. retired in 2011 and served in an advisory role until 2018. Over his career he acquired, managed, and developed mixed use, commercial, and multi-family properties. He is a member of the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and also has significant experience in mortgage banking.
Mr. Segar received his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and graduated from Northwestern University's Mortgage Banking School.
He is an avid outdoorsman and skeet shooting enthusiast.
AP Segar is the President of Dogwood Residential. She has been the majority owner of the Segar Family properties since 2011, with holdings in Virginia and North Carolina.
Since taking over properties in Blacksburg, Virginia, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she has built teams and partnerships that repositioned, renovated, developed, and re-entitled both sites. This included successfully rezoning land for over 800 units in high barrier-to-entry municipalities.
Before working in real estate, Ms. Segar held leadership positions as a merchant at Walmart and Gap Inc.
As Executive Vice President, Jim brings over 35 years of experience in multi-family development, finance and property management. Since 1993, he has initiated or co-developed 16 apartment projects for new construction or re-positioning. From 1998 to 2005, Jim was a founding principal of the University Housing Group, the property management firm for eight student properties with over 4,700 beds. He is a former partner in Trammell Crow Residential (Charlotte), where he led 21 debt and equity transactions. Jim received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He is currently an employee of Dogwood Acquisitions, LLC.
